How to Open a Cellebrite UFDR File
A .ufdr file is a report for Cellebrite Reader. Start with the complete production and an official copy of Reader, then check what the report includes before treating its contents as the whole phone.
Identify what you received
Cellebrite describes Reader as a free viewer for UFDR reports. Its current download route is the Cellebrite Community Portal. A PDF export, a UFDR report, and a forensic extraction folder are different deliverables; the filename alone does not establish what was collected.

Open a working copy
Keep the original production intact. These are vendor-documented review steps; menus and supported environments can vary by release.
- Save the complete delivered package and any accompanying instructions. Work from a copy in your firm's approved environment.
- Obtain Reader through Cellebrite's official portal or ask the producing office for the complete Reader package and version information.
- Open the UFDR through Reader. If it fails, record the error, Reader version, and supplied filenames before asking the producer or your IT staff for help.
- Treat a security warning as something to investigate. Have IT verify the software's origin instead of restoring a quarantined executable just to get the report open.

Check the display before drawing conclusions
Cellebrite's settings guide explains how project time zones, timeline filters, and source-information settings affect review. Record the time zone being displayed. Check the selected activity types before treating an empty timeline as proof that nothing happened.
Reader shows the material included in the report. Items excluded or redacted when the report was created will not appear. Ask the examiner about extraction scope, report selections, and unavailable data when a missing message matters.
